There is a darkness that encompasses my soul,
Taking my triumphs and making them old.
Placing me in uncomfortable positions,
Attempting to destroy and sabotage my mission.
Days of rest and peace are few,
In this darkness my impatience brews.
In this darkness I hear roars of lions,
Instilling in me the fear of dying.
Love trickles away and turns to suspicion,
And my Faith in God appears to be missing.
The days are long,
But my heart is still strong.
I am not defeated,
Because my heart is still beating.
Those lions comfort me in distress,
They prepare me for my ultimate test.
Pulling away from me layers of callus,
Destroying every feeling of malice.
They strengthen my very soul,
Until my Faith in God makes me bold.
Because the time for war is drawing near,
So I’ll wait beside them until its Jesus I hear.
Telling me that I have won the race,
And now am free to look on His face.
I will join the ones who watched over me,
And never let me remain at defeat.
Those who gave me the courage to stand,
And wait until God had revealed the plan.
For my days were always numbered and few,
But His love was forever and always true.
