Some call you a gift,
Others a feeling to share.
You teach us to have compassion,
And how to care,
However we often fear you.
Bewildering our minds;
Torturing our souls.
To experience you brings happiness,
And longing for you loneliness.
In hopes of security,
We look for you in others,
For fear of being incomplete,
Thinking that they will fill us with you.
You originate in us,
Yet we seek you elsewhere,
Like what we possess of you is not enough.
We doubt that we have you,
Or have experienced you.
Why the external searching,
When the inside is much closer?
Once we realize where you truly are,
The searching stops and the living begins.
Almost as if the revelation healed us.
Dear love, make yourself known.
Don’t hide from us but show yourself.
Help us to stop looking in the wrong places,
So that we can find you in the right ones.
